Mike Tyson is one of my sporting heroes. The rough, tough brawler from Catskill, New York captured the World Heavyweight Boxing title in 1986 and made history as the youngest ever fighter to do so.

'Iron Mike', in my view, had a lot in common with another hero of mine 9and yours too, I'll bet), Bruce Lee.

Both were as close to a 'pure fighter' as I have ever seen. I was a teenager in the 1980s and had the pleasure of witnessing Mike Tyson in his prime.

Now, after fifteen years out of the ring,  he is back.

Of course, he has never been far away. In recent years, his podcast Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson has had such luminaries of the squared circle as Tyson Fury, Sugar Ray Leonard and even Evander Holyfield, who had two infamous clashes with Mike.

Roy Jones Jr is a king of the ring too, but as the two 'elder statesmen' face off tonight, my heart says Mike will win it, my head says Roy (who was ring active as recently as 2018) will edge the contest.

Mike and Roy have the right to fight. I am completely turned off by BBC Sport commentators Bunce and Costello (whose behaviour is so comedic they should be named Abott and Costello, because whatever they once knew about boxing has long since left the building). There will always be risks in fighting. Indeed, ome of my sparring sessions with students were harder than many of my competitive bouts!

In my view, whoever wins tonight, boxing fans win. It's a good spectacle in a year of chaos. Good luck to both Mike and Roy. You are called legends for a reason, and it is well deserved.
