League Cup 2021-2022

Dear Students: From 27th September 2021 a  new 'league' will commence (following on from the successful 2020-21 League),

with students competing for a trophy at the end of the 'season' (which is 9 months in duration).

It is different from any Opens held over the last fifteen years because the student who finishes first in the table (left side / top are seniors, the right side / lower, juniors) will win the main trophy. Juniors who place 2nd, 3rd and 4th will also win a trophy. Top three in Seniors only win a trophy.

How are points allocated?

Points are awarded to ten students in each table every week. So

attendance, noticeable skill improvement gained outside of class

plus the ability to closely follow what the instructor states during

class is of critical importance. Not only will you advance up the table

as a result, you will improve in your chosen discipline. Regardless of

where you are in the table, act with humility at all times.

What is the difference between a 'senior' student and a 'junior' student?

This definition was refined over the years - quite simply, because the standard improved so much that a new standard by so many of you was reached.

Senior Student

A Student who is on Syllabus 16 of Wing Chun, Rank 4 of Jeet Kune Do, or 4th Kyu in Karate (Tai Chi students do not take part in this league).

Junior Student

A student who is on Syllabus 1-15 of Wing Chun, Proficiency Rank 1-3 of Jeet Kune Do, 9th Kyu-5th Kyu of Karate.

Tuesday 28th June 2022: FINAL Tables Announced

PLEASE NOTE: Students on holiday means that points from 1 to 10 may not be awarded. For example,

if eight students attend, points from 3 to 10 will be allocated.

In the event of a points tie on the final day of the league, the student who is awarded the higher number of points for that final week will be placed in the higher league position.

FINAL LEAGUE TABLES PUBLISHED

Winners: Nicole (Seniors) Paul (Juniors)

Promoted to Seniors League: Jagdeep

There will still be chances to be promoted to the Seniors League ahead of the third league campaign which will start at the end of September 2022, so do continue to train hard.

TROPHIES (and other administrative tasks)

I will be taking a couple of days off in July for personal reasons, but will use part of that time to complete an admin backlog, including trophies allocation, certificates, new video content, and licences (though most of you have your licences up to date). The aim will be to issue all of them to students by the end of July.
